1. What StackMap Is
StackMap is a visual launcher and tool operating system — a single home screen for every link, app, dashboard, and workspace you use. Instead of digging through browser bookmarks or scattered tabs, you organise everything into tidy, clickable tiles grouped into categories and stacks. Open StackMap and your whole toolkit is right there.
2. Getting Started
Sign in
Use the Sign In button to log in with Google or your email. This creates your account and unlocks cloud sync.
Build your first stack
A stack is a themed group of tools — for example, "Daily Tools" or "Client Work". Create one to start organising.
Add your first app or link
Use the Add button to save a link as a tile inside your stack. It takes a few seconds.
Use it daily
Set StackMap as a home tab or bookmark it — open it first thing and launch any tool from one screen.
3. Adding Links / Apps
Adding a new tool to StackMap only takes a moment:
- Click + Add.
- Enter a name for the app or tool.
- Enter the URL (web address).
- Choose which category or stack it belongs to.
- Click Save.
Your new app appears instantly as a tile with its icon, ready to open with a single click.
4. Categories and Stacks
Categories help you group tools by type, so your workspace stays organised instead of becoming one long list. Common examples include:
- AI Tools — chatbots, writing assistants, image generators
- Developer — code editors, repositories, hosting dashboards
- Design — design tools, asset libraries, prototyping apps
- Business — accounting, CRM, project management
- Marketing — analytics, social media, email platforms
You can create new categories, rename existing ones, and rearrange them so your most-used groups are easy to find.
5. Search and Command Palette
Need a tool fast? Use the search bar or open the command palette and start typing part of the tool's name. StackMap will match it instantly, so you can launch what you need without scrolling through every category or hunting through old bookmarks.
6. Recent Apps
StackMap keeps track of the tools you open most often and surfaces them as Recent Apps. This is handy for the tools you live in every day — instead of searching or browsing, your most-used links are right there, helping you get back into your workflow faster.
7. Importing Bookmarks
Already have a pile of browser bookmarks? StackMap can turn them into organised tiles:
- In Chrome, Safari, or Firefox, export your bookmarks as an HTML file (usually found in your browser's bookmark manager under an "export" option).
- In StackMap, open the Import option and select that HTML file.
- StackMap reads the file and converts your bookmarks into app tiles.
8. Organising Your Workspace
A great StackMap setup is one that's tidy and matches how you actually work:
- Reorder apps and tiles if your version of StackMap supports drag-and-drop.
- Pin or highlight the tools you rely on most.
- Keep your daily tools near the top of your stacks for quick access.
- Regularly remove old, unused, or duplicate tools to keep things clean.
9. Cloud Sync
When you're signed in, StackMap can sync your stacks, categories, and apps to the cloud — so the same setup follows you to another device or browser. If full cloud sync is part of a Pro feature set on your plan, signing in will still save your basics locally, and upgrading unlocks complete cross-device syncing. Check the Free vs Pro section below or your account settings for what's included on your current plan.
10. Free vs Pro
- Core StackMap features for organising and launching tools
- A limited number of saved links and stacks
- Manual export of your data
- Higher or unlimited link and stack limits
- Full cloud sync across devices
- Advanced import and export options
- LinkShield and other security features, where available
- Priority access to new features
Exact limits and features may change over time — check pricing.html for the current details.
11. Billing and Cancellation
All billing is managed from inside the app:
- Open Settings and find the Legal & Billing card.
- The Manage / Cancel Subscription option opens Stripe's secure billing portal, where you can update payment details, view invoices, or cancel. You can find it in the app footer or on the Billing page.
- Cancelling stops future renewals — your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds for past payments are handled under our Billing & Refund Policy.
12. Privacy and Data
StackMap stores the account and app data needed to run the service — things like your saved links, categories, and account details. For full details on what's collected and how it's used, read our Privacy Policy. For any privacy or data questions, contact contact@stackmap.net.
13. Troubleshooting
The app isn't loading
Refresh the page, check your internet connection, and try signing out and back in. Clearing your browser cache can also help.
Links aren't saving
Make sure you're signed in and connected to the internet, then try adding the link again. If it still doesn't save, refresh and retry.
Import didn't work
Double-check you exported your bookmarks as an HTML file (not a different format), and that the file isn't empty. Try the import again with a freshly exported file.
The billing portal won't open
Make sure you're signed in. Try refreshing the page and clicking Manage Subscription again. If it still won't open, contact support.
Pro features aren't showing after payment
It can take a short time for your account to update after a successful payment. Try refreshing the page or signing out and back in. If Pro still isn't showing after a few minutes, contact support with your payment confirmation.
